Don't use drug store purchased haircolor. It's always going to be worse for you than salon grade. I've used both and like them both. Any coloring process that you use on your hair will damage your hair to an extent. I would use Wella personally. The have really nice pre coloring conditioners that help the color last and leave your hair feeling super healthy.
